Co. A, 49th Iowa Volunteer InfantryContacts: 1st Lt. David Lamb, Commander 2nd Lt. Danny Krock, Adjutant Company A 49th Iowa is unique to the SVR in that it is strictly a color guard recruited from members of the SVR throughout the Department of Iowa. Chartered in 2009, this unit, known as "The Governor's Own" has been recognized as the official color guard of the Governor of Iowa and has been directed by the Governor to serve as the official color guard should that of the National Guard be unavailable. Although only in its second full year of existence, it has already received numerous awards, including the much coveted Commander's Unit citation. The unit Commander is 1st Lieutenant David Lamb.
